I am going to be a nursing student at Dominican next year. I plan to also pursue GLBT studies and hope to explore the field of HIV/AIDS research. I have had the amazing opportunity of working at a research lab as a volunteer for a year (Nov 2010) to the present on chronic pancreatitis. I hope that this experience will help me when I am looking for a research opportunity in the field of HIV/AIDS. While I am working on my nursing degree I hope to take classes outside of the college where I can further my interest in LGBT studies. I am lucky to live and study in and near San Francisco where I can pursue my wide range of interests. I believe that a person is only as strong as the limitations they set for themselves, and that everyone is capable of everything. Some people may have it harder than others but in the end we all have our own problems, our own demons and our own struggles. I don't believe in pity or handouts for people that are entirely capable of reaching the same place without them. However, I am all for assisting those who are in need of assistance. I am an avid volunteer with a handful of organizations. I have volunteered and worked in many different fields which I believe makes me uniquely qualified for what ever life throws at me.
